Porter Ranch is a small neighborhood that lies in the city of Los Angeles. It is a small rural community that is bounded by other four beautiful communities homed in Los Angeles. These four beautiful cities were the Chatsworth, Northridge, Santa Susana Mountains, and Granada hills. Chatsworth is a district in Los Angeles found on the south and west of Porter ranch. Porter Ranch has six major access roads; these access roads are the Corbin Avenue, Tampa Avenue, Reseda Boulevard, Sesnon Boulevard, Rinaldi Street and the Ronald Reagan Freeway. Corbin Avenue, Tampa Avenue and Reseda Boulevard are the three major roads that run in the north-south of Porter Ranch; while Sesnon Boulevard, Rinaldi Street and the Ronald Reagan Freeway runs east and west of the Porter Ranch.

In its early history back in the years of 1700s, the Northridge area located on the south of the Porter Ranch is a part of the San Fernando Valley. It is bounded the majestic Santa Susana Mountains. The place used to be occupied by Local Indians. These local Indians sheltered in what is now the Northridge area called their place "Zelzah". The name Zelzah was taken from the bible and the word means "Oasis".
It was termed as an oasis because it had a spring of water that became gathering g place for the Indians. To this date, the spring is still in existence; however, the spring is now tapped off. This historical spring is located at the intersection if Parthenia and Reseda Boulevard.
This particular land area in Northridge was very productive. Soon after, a railroad was built and so it became very well known as a shipping point for agricultural produce. A large variety of agricultural products like nuts, olives, and particularly citrus were transported. The place also became known for its poultry production. Chickens and other poultry products became a good part of the local produce. In the late nineteenth century or 1800's, a man named Benjamin Porter paid for and acquired a parcel of land in Northridge, this parcel of land can be found in the northern hilly area of Northridge. Benjamin porter raised wheat and other very much preferred and popular crops in his ranch.
Not much later, in 1930's and the 1940's, famous movie stars like Clark Gable and Carol Lombard, Barbara Stanwyck, Harry James and Betty Grable, Jack Oakie, Louella Parsons, Montie Montana, Robert Taylor and Mr. And Mrs. Zeppo Marx came and experienced the beauty of the Porter ranch. They themselves acquired horse Ranches in the area; the places became to them as a serene retreat after long, tiring, and hectic day in Hollywood life.
Since then it has gone through several changes and improvements. Porter Ranch was purchased by site developers. Soon after, beautiful homes were built in this lofty place in porter ranch. These homes in the lovely hills offer an overview of the whole San Fernando Valley.
