North Ranch – is a community in Ventura County, California, United States of America. It can be found at Latitude: 34.19667: Longitude: -118.81917. North Ranch is elevated 1220 feet above sea level. North Ranch is a neighborhood within the city of Thousand Oaks. North Ranch residents are counted among Thousand Oak’s 120,000+ residents. North Ranch is one of the most peaceful neighborhoods, as Thousand Oaks continually ranks as one of the safest cities for its size in the nation by FBI standards. Average weather in North Ranch is 65-75 degrees during summer and 53-69 degrees in winter.
The North Ranch neighborhood is also the home to an outstanding county club, The North Ranch County Club. North Ranch Country Club opened in 1974. North Ranch Country Club was designed by Ted Robinson and it features all the hallmarks of California golf. North Ranch Country Club can be found at a short distance from the 101 freeway. North Ranch Country Club is the pride of Westlake Village.
The North Ranch Country Club had its beginnings in Westlake Village, which is a part of Conejo Valley. The area was originally populated by a Native American tribe, the Chumash, and eventually, the Spanish also resided in the area of Westlake and North Ranch. A Spanish Captain, Captain Noriega eventually received a land for the North Ranch/Westlake area in 1882. The North Ranch/Westlake was then called El Triunfo Rancho. By 1884 Rancho El Conejo, or home of the rabbits, was incorporated to the United States o America.
Howard Mills bought 23,000 acres of land in 1872 which included North Ranch and Westlake Village. He used the vast land for raising cattle. In 1877, a three year drought forced Mills to let go of the land and sold his land to the Russell brothers of Santa Barbara for $15,000 or $2.50 per acre. The Russell family sold the rancho to William Randolph during the early 1920’s. Hearst was interested in what was to become North Ranch because he thought he might find oil in the rancho. Alas, no oil was found in Westlake and North Ranch and after 20 years, Westlake and North Ranch was yet again sold. This time the land was sold to the Albertson Corporation. The Westlake and North Ranch area was again used as a pasture for cattle and sheep and was renamed Albertson Ranch. In 1963, the American Hawaiian Steamship company bought the 12,000 acre land, where North Ranch and Westlake can be found. The American Hawaiian Steamship company, in collaboration with the Prudential Insurance Company, made plans to develop the North Ranch/Westlake area to a residential community.
By the early 1970’s, North Ranch’s 4,700 acre land was finally inaugurated. Ted Robinson, a famous golf course architect, designed an A-class golf course. North Ranch’s golf course was opened and began operations in 1976. The North Ranch clubhouse was finally completed in October 1988.
Members of North Ranch Country Club bought the club from Prudential in December, 1990. There are now more than 800 members who enjoy North Ranch’s country club. The North Ranch Country Club is known, not only for its world-class golf course, but also because of its excellent tennis courts. The North Ranch Country Club has 12 all-weather, professionally lighted tennis courts with a separate tennis clubhouse. North Ranch Country Club also offers delights to the palates via fine dining and full banquet facilities.
North Ranch is also the home to the North Ranch Mall. Built in 1990, the North Ranch Mall is one of the most prime shopping centers in the Conejo Valley and can be found at Main and Main – Westlake Boulevard and Thousand Oaks Boulevard. The North Ranch Mall is a one-story shopping center that is located at the heart of Westlake Village off the 101 Ventura Freeway. A portion of the North Ranch mall also functions as a community center.
The North Ranch Community Center is an enticing venue for various events. The North Ranch Community center can be found at the base of the Santa Monica foothills, just a short drive from downtown Westlake. The North Ranch Community Center features a large and airy banquet room with a vaulted ceiling, a stage, and a series of skylights. Doors that run along the length of the building open to sun-filled terraces and fresh air from the hillside. This feature of North Ranch Community Center gives guests the opportunity to enjoy the picturesque mountain views. Privacy in North Ranch Community Center is ensured by adobe brick walls that completely enclose the patio. It can be used for various functions from ceremonies, wedding receptions, and rehearsal dinners to Special events, parties, and Business Functions.
Another place that’s worth a visit is the North Ranch Pavilions. It is commercial center with a total land area of 62,812 square feet. It can be found at 1125 Lindero Canyon Road, Thousand Oaks, California

The Education in the North Ranch neighborhood is under the jurisdiction of Conejo Unified School district. The Conejo Unified School District is in-charge of 29 schools, namely: Acacia Elementary School, Aspen Elementary School, Banyan Elementary School, Colina Middle School, Conejo Elementary School, Cypress Elementary School, Glenwood Elementary School, Ladera Elementary School, Lang Ranch, Los Cerritos Middle School, Madrona Elementary School, Manzanita Elementary School, Maple Elementary School, Meadows Elementary School, Newbury Park High School, Park Oaks Elementary School, Redwood Middle School, Sequoia Middle School, Thousand Oaks High School, University Elementary School, Walnut Elementary School, Weathersfield Elementary School, Westlake Elementary School, Westlake High School, Westlake Hills Elementary School, Wildwood Elementary School, Conejo Valley High, Century High School, and Sycamore Canyon. The Conejo Unified School District is in charge of 22,383 students from elementary to high school, including kids from North Ranch.
Perhaps the most notable school that is proximate to North Ranch is the Thousand Oaks High School. This premier school began operations since 1962.
