History
Hollywood Hills – a community that is a portion of the eastern section of the low transverse range of the Santa Monica Mountains, which extends from the Los Feliz District and Hollywood, on the south side of the Valley, to Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu and Pacific Palisades. It is still unofficial whether Hollywood Hills is a part of the City of Los Angeles, California.
Originally, Hollywood Hills is composed mainly of the hill neighborhoods north of West Hollywood and Hollywood proper. Hollywood Hills used to exclude the more westerly communities ,however, Hollywood hills expanded to include areas such as Benedict Canyon and Coldwater Canyon.
Hollywood Hills is one of the most coveted and conveniently situated communities in the Los Angeles area. Even “the King” Elvis Presley owned an estate in Hollywood Hills. Hollywood Hills is but a few minutes drive downtown to Los Angeles. Hollywood Hills is also reasonably close to South California’s numerous exceptional facilities that offer entertainment and recreational activities. Hollywood Hills’ Hollywood Bowl has been the home of the Los Angeles Philharmonics since then. It is the world’s largest outdoor amphitheater. The outstanding amphitheater usually hosts grand musical events, thus Hollywood Hills has seen its fair share of glamorous musicians. The north barrier of the Los Angeles Basin is generally constituted by Hollywood Hills. Since the 1920’s, residential development has been extensive. Among those areas in Hollywood Hills is the Mulholland Drive. It is a famous road in Los Angeles, and a movie is named after this well-known road.
Another area in Hollywood Hills that benefited from the residential development is the Laurel Canyon. Laurel Canyon is a canyon neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, belonging to Hollywood Hills. It is an important passage between West Hollywood, another city that is a part of Hollywod Hills, and the San Fernando Valley, specifically Studio City. The Division of the two can be approximated via the intersection of Mulholland Drive and Laurel Canyon. Laurel Canyon is an Ideal place to be in when in Hollywood Hills. This is due to its proximity to different studios, airports, and other facilities.

Jennifer Aniston, actress of Friends fame, resides in laurel Canyon, Hollywood Hills.
Slash, former lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, resided in Laurel Canyon, Hollywood Hills.
The Rolling Stones, oddly enough, used to live in Marilyn Manson’s house; in the Astor House in Laurel Canyon, Hollywood Hills
Alice Cooper, a notorious shock-rock artist, had a home in Laurel Canyon, Hollywood Hils, from 1971-1976
Hollywood Hills also provide an accelerating biking trail. Mulholland Drive is a steep and fast ride. Such a challenging trail is sufficiently compensated for because you are treated by Hollywood Hills’ picturesque view of San Fernando Valley. Mulholland Drive is also the place of residence of rich and famous people from different fields; so if you fancy to go “stargazing”, this is the place to be.
Nichols Canyon is another area in Hollywood Hills that gained much due to residential development. This Hollywood Hills community begins at Hollywood Boulevard on its south end and snakes northward to hills below Mulholland Drive. David Hockney, a British artist, painted Nichols Canyon in 1980. He wanted to showcase Hollywood Hills’ winding roads and landscape during the late 1970’s
Hollywood Hills is also a home to Forest Lawn Memorial Park. It is part of the Forest Lawn chain of cemeteries in Southern California. Before becoming a memorial park, Forest Lawn - Holywood Hills was used for some early motion pictures. Forest lawn - Hollywood Hills is a park dedicated to the preservation of American history. Forest Lawn- Hollywood Hills also hosts high-profile events such as the annual Veteran’s Day ceremony. Like other Forest Lawn memorial parks, Forest Lawn – Hollywood Hills houses the remains of many celebrities. Among those are:
