History
On October 24, 1874, Lake County was established. It was named as Lake County because of the large number of large lakes that can be found within its borders. Lake County has a total of 13 cities and towns, including the beautiful place of Hidden Valley Lake.
Hidden Valley Lake is a vintage community in California. The first people to settle in the town were the native Indians, the Spanish and the Mexicans. Guenoc tribe of California was the first Californian tribes to discover the area. Hidden Valley Lake, like other beautiful places in California, is a Spanish land grant. It is a part of 21,200-acre Rancho Guenoc in the mid-1800s. In the year 1969 Hidden Valley Lake was developed.
Hidden Valley Lake, in California has a total population of 3,777. According to the year 2000 report of the census, average of males was 1,913 (50.6%) while the average of females was 1,864 (49.4%). Residents in Hidden Valley is composed of White Non-Hispanic (88.5%), Hispanic (6.8%), American Indian (2.7%), Black (0.7%), two or more races (2.7%), and 1.8% of Other race. Most of the residents in hidden valley came from their different ancestral races, such as Germans with (17.1%), English (16.3%), Irish (12.2%), Americans (11.5%), French (6.7%) and Italian with (6.1%).
Hidden Valley is not only home for thousands of residents; it is also home for a historical place such as the Stone House. Stone House was built in the year 1853–54 by Robert Sterling, an American film and television actor, who married a non-Indian woman in Coyote Valley. The Stone House was the oldest structure in the Lake County, California. In the year 1894, the Stone House became the headquarters of Rancho Guenoc. Today the building is registered as "California Historical Landmark #450."
